and today
I am boycotting getting old. I am tired of my eye sight getting worse, my joints hurting from arthritis and finding grey hairs (wont even talk about how metabolism in my family stops when you hit your 40's and losing weight is harder to do that getting a politician to admit they are wrong).

just a bad day

I don't have to drive my car again until tomorrow so I'm hoping that I stay about a 1/2 tank and that gas drops before I have to fill up again... But knowing my luck, it won't. It will stay high until I fill up, then it will drop.

Sorry you are having a bad day cosy. I hope it turns around for you.

Just tanked up at $3.77 per gallon, still $1 more than a year ago at this time.

no, gas in just about every country is by liters and higher than we pay--though they also dont drive nearly as much as we do (I have a friend who bought a car 5 years ago and already has 100,000 miles on it---good thing its a hybrid).

Oh, I know.

But saying that 1.25/liter is reasonable is just...well, it's not. That's ~$5/gallon. Plus exchange rate.

Wow, 100,000 miles in five years...I've had my car for that amount of time. And I've put about 20,000 miles on it in that time (it already has 93,000 when I got it).

I kinda wish I lived in an area that had good enough public transportation that I don't have to drive, but there's not a whole lot in the suburbs, sadly.

when I was in japan it was 124 yen (thats was over $1.40 back then) or so and that was 6 years ago (yeah I make fun of my friend since my '97 corolla just past 100k miles and he got there in 5 years!).....I was very happy when I saw the prices back then that I had chosen not to get a car while I lived there---and the public transportation in japan is one of the best in the world --so I knew I could count on it (and did many many many times).
(when I did the math it was closer to $6/gallon )

Ya gas everywhere in the world atm is pretty much ridiculous. Just happens to be a USA heavy crowd in here that talk about the gas prices.

So some guy stopped by tonight trying to sell Advanage Wonder Cleaner to my mom. Luckily my mom didn't go for it and when I did some research, it turns out it is a well known bait and switch scam. (Basically they show you the real product but give you scented water). I saw a rebuttal post by the supposed "head customer service rep" that was extremely childish. The person basically called the OP a liar, immature and childish among other things. Red flags all around that this is a huge scam. My mom got so pissed she went around to the whole neighborhood telling them about this guy and we eventually chased him out of our neighborhood. (Not literally but everyone told him no thanks and he saw us spreading the word) Stupid scams... Need to put up a no solicitors sign. Maybe something about solicitors will be shot on site, survivors will be shot again or something.

ah the one almost good thing about where I live--no soliciting, however, the stupid bible thumpers dont think it applies to them---so some days you just dont answer the door (and then you have to wait for a while if you are planning to go anywhere).

losing 10lbs would be great....since I gained that much this year (great diet I went on--lost some but gained way more than I lost).....30 or more would be ideal though----

I had this picture of you and your neighbors chasing the guy with yard tools and baseball bats. Well it doesn't happen often around here, but western MA. had a series of tornadoes yesterday, Springfield got hit particularly hard by 2 separate storms. A camera caught the storm forming, it is pretty awesome.

I heard about some of that yesterday. Tornadoes are scary, I've seen more than a few myself. Hope your friends and family are all okay.

cosy - I wouldn't mind losing some weight myself...I've got a host of other problems I need to get under control first, though, before I even have the motivation to try :\

tornados are one of natures wonders that I would really not mind if it never happened ever again----
when I was a kid in the south burbs of chicago I got to see a few preeeettty dang close to where I lived (one ripped thru lemont-- a burb very close to my home)....since then I have a phobia about them, and often have nightmares that I must pack up everything in my home as one approaches (yeah I am gonna get that done in what 4 minutes???)....not a fan of thunderstorms either.

yep gotta lose a few dozens of pounds (aint gonna happen, I always gain weight on diets and exercising only seems to make me tired and not lose any weight).....oh well the struggles of aging with bad genes

I was a little kid and living in Aurora the year that tornado demolished Plainfield and I still remember that clearly - the tornadoes missed us, but that F5 passed scarily close to where I lived then. And then there was this outbreak that leveled the town my aunt lives in - she lives in the one small area of the town that didn't get destroyed.

I hate storms.

lol Minus the yard tools and baseball bats, ya that is pretty much how it went. The guy just left the neighborhood since everyone knew it was a scam.

I remember the 2004 tornadoes. The one where the tavern collapsed was big news even around here, which isn't surprising since I live somewhat close to LaSalle and Knox county. Last years there was a tornado in Elmwood that was pretty destructive. It was on the day of my sister's wedding. Then there was a tornado a mile away from where the reception was being held. That was a pretty bad night as well. (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/?n=05june2010summary)

For a moment I thought you meant Elmwood Park, haha.

We didn't get any tornadoes up here (confirmed, anyway), but we did get a hell of a lot of rain during those storms last summer. My town was one of the least-hit in the immediate area and we still got like 8+ inches of rain in less than a day last July. Westchester was declared a disaster area, a lot of main streets were completely impassable (my brother worked in Westchester and couldn't get to work), and for a while even getting to my house was dicey, because of streets being closed off.

Last summer was just full of wicked storms. I got caught in one on my way home from school...nothing like driving down I-290, in rush hour AND construction traffic, while it's pitch black and the wind is flinging construction equipment around. Then a couple of weeks later when we had tornado warnings...then the torrential rain a few weeks after THAT where everything flooded...yeeeaah.

Ya last year was a bad one for storms. Starting to look like this one might be as well, though maybe not for the area I'm in. Seems like the real bad storms have just missed us recently. Which is a good thing for sure.

ah driving in the pouring rain when you can barely see the road and those wipers? do nothing---streets flooding, and lightning strikes soo near you hear noises for minutes afterwards.....no, I am not a fan of any of this. (pwnd I remember that wedding--rain is supposed to be GOOD on your wedding day, so I think you sis is gonna have a great marriage!!).

I have driven in blinding snow storms, flash flood warnings, tornado warnings and have been in typhoons as well as hurricanes---but I still think the worst of all of those is the dang tornadoes!
